beliefs
- We believe in God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, One God in three Persons. (Matthew 3:16-17)
- We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man. (Luke1:35, Hebrews 2:16-17, John 1:1, Romans 9:5)
- We believe that Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to God except through Jesus Christ. (John 14:6, Acts 4:12)
- We believe that mankind was created in God’s image, but because of sin is depraved. (Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, Genesis 3:1-24)
- We believe Jesus Christ atoned for sin on the cross. (Colossians 1:20)
- We believe that it is by the grace of God through faith that a person can receive new life through Christ and spend eternity with Him. (Ephesians 2:8-9)
- We believe that the grace of God enables a person not only to be born again and spend eternity with Christ but it also provides power by which to live this life in a way pleasing to God. (Ephesians 2:10, Philippians 2:13, Titus 2:11-12)
- We believe that God graces His people with spiritual gifts for edifying the church. (1 Peter 4:10, Romans 12:3-8)
- We believe the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. It is the revelation of God to mankind. (2 Timothy 3:16)
- We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are sacraments of the Church commanded by Christ and are tokens of our profession of the Christian faith and signs of God's gracious ministry toward us. (Matthew 28:19, Luke 22:14-20)
Baptism
GracePoint practices Believers’ Baptism. Twice a year we offer an in-depth class and an opportunity to be baptized during a Sunday morning worship service. Please contact the GracePoint office if you are interested in being baptized.
Because we wait until a person has made a personal decision to follow Christ before baptizing them, we do Family Dedications, rather than baptizing babies and young children. Through this act we are asking God to bless the parents with the wisdom to raise their child in a God-honoring manner and to set apart the child to Himself. Neither dedication nor baptism, in themselves, bring salvation but we believe God honors this act of consecration. Please contact the GracePoint office if you are interested in having your child dedicated.

16 For surely it is not angels He helps, but Abraham’s descendants. 17 For this reason He had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that He might make atonement for the sins of the people.

Genesis 3:1-24 (NIV)
Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God
had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden,3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
8 Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as He was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. 9 But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
10 He answered, “I heard You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid.”
11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
12 The man said, “The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.”
13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?”
The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”
14 So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,
“Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your bellyand you will eat dust all the days of your life. 15 And I will put enmitybetween you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
16 To the woman He said, “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.”
17 To Adam He said, “Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, ‘You must not eat from it,’ “Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life. 18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field. 19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return.”
20 Adam named his wife Eve because she would become the mother of all the living.
21 The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them.22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.” 23 So the Lord God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken. 24 After He drove the man out, he placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword flashing back and forth to guard the way to the tree of life.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.
Romans 12:3-8 (NIV)
3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.

17 After taking the cup, He gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. 18 For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.”
20 In the same way, after the supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is poured out for you.

As part of our vision to empower parents to be the primary spiritual disciplers in their children’s lives, GracePoint desires to celebrate the milestones in each family’s life with the family taking the lead role. Dedicating our children is an important milestone because we are asking God to bless the parents with the wisdom to raise their child in a God-honoring manner and to set apart the child to Himself. With Family Dedications, we place the parents in the lead role in this milestone celebration as the spiritual leaders of their family. We do this by hosting an Empowering Parents Class and Family Dedication Day
Empowering Parents Class
INTRO & PREP - This time of preparation is designed to introduce families to the Family Dedication milestone, why we celebrate dedications, and what they need to do to prepare for the celebration.
EQUIP PARENTS - A portion of the time will be roundtable discussions with Family Mentors (parents from the church who desire to support and encourage young families!) where everyone can share and discuss helpful ways to disciple and teach their children. We will also introduce parents to resources the church provides and other resources that are available.
CREATE COMMUNITY - Parents will get the opportunity to sit next to each other and share about their own successes and failures. We are all in this together and this time allows connections to be made with others in the same season of life.
DISCIPLE-MAKING HABITS - Although parents can’t have deep spiritual conversations with their child at the age of dedication, they can start creating habits that will be beneficial throughout the child’s life. This includes prayerfully choosing a life verse for the child and 3 words that they want to consistently pray over their child, both of which the parents will use on the Family Dedication Day.
Family Dedication Day (2 weeks after the Empowering Parents Class)
Family Dedication Day is a day of celebrating the milestone of dedicating your children to God. GracePoint believes this is an incredibly important moment for families. Having a special day outside of Sunday morning allows us to celebrate and honor this moment without time constraints. Doors will open at 9AM for Family Photos of each of the families dedicating children, and will also include light refreshments. Everyone the family wishes to invite to this service is welcome and we encourage opening it up to friends and family who will be part of the growth and discipleship of the children.
On this day, we will spend a brief time teaching about dedications, and then families will get up in front of the room and dedicate their child to God, praying the life verse over them. The pastors will also take a moment to pray over the child and family for the dedication.
Two weeks later we will celebrate the Family Dedications as the photos/video taken of each family praying over their child will be shared in each of the Sunday morning services. This allows the whole congregation to see every child/family, affirm the dedication and state their willingness to participate in the family’s discipling journey.
We have family dedications 2 or 3 times each year. If you are interested in being part of the next one, please let us know.
