Serenity and her husband, Jeff, have been members of GracePoint since early 2012, finding here the church family they never had before. Together, the two made much-needed, life-changing connections through GracePoint growth groups at the home of Pastor Steve and Vicki. Soon after, God began to issue a call into ministry. With the encouragement of Jeff, and the guidance of Pastor Aaron and Pastor Matt, in 2013, Serenity began taking steps toward ordination. In the fall of 2015, she graduated cum laude with a B.S. in biblical studies from Indiana Wesleyan University. She has since continued working through ordination requirements via the non-trad program at Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
Along the way, Serenity has helped to organize GracePoint events like the annual Thanksgiving Day meal and the first Night to Shine. Also serving as a prison penpal and women’s mentor, she is passionate about addiction recovery, community outreach, and discipleship. Her personal mission is equipping individuals to become leaders in their own lives by following after Jesus.
As a second-career ministry student, Serenity has over a decade of experience in media/events, along with several recent years working in manufacturing support roles in Brookings. She was brought on staff in the summer of 2017 to assist the Community Life team, and she currently serves bi-vocationally, working at both GracePoint and Daktronics.
