ANOINT
Sunday, May 15, during 2nd and 3rd hours we will provide two opportunities for you to attend an Anoint Conference in the Great Room. Anoint is our end-of-the-year, all-church meeting where we review what happened this last year at GracePoint, appoint the Local Board for the next church year, adopt the budget and talk about our vision for what lies ahead for GracePoint. These gatherings will each be an hour long. All are welcome and members are encouraged to attend.
For several weeks leading up to this conference we are sharing video reports of what has been going on in the various ministry areas, what we are pushing into and how you can be involved. There are so many great things the Lord is doing at GracePoint and it is good to take a few minutes each week to celebrate and thank the Lord for His many blessings. These videos are available to watch at the bottom of this page.
I am frequently asked how GracePoint is doing now, following the last couple of pandemic years. We'll talk about that during our meeting but here are some examples of indicators of health. We are nearly back to pre-pandemic attendance. Our online attendance continues to be strong, at close to 400 each week. We had the joy of seeing 22 baptisms on Palm Sunday and GracePoint Watertown, one of the churches we are partnering with, had 108 people in attendance on Easter, with 7 baptisms! We’ve also had strong giving this past year. Thank you to all of you who are so faithful in this way. Your generosity is a blessing and is vital to GracePoint’s effectiveness. The budget for this coming year—which will be presented at each of the meetings by our church treasurer, Justin Werkmeister—is based on last year's giving. The budget is usually very similar to the prior year’s and this budget is no exception.
Leadership is very important to any organization’s success and this is definitely the case at GracePoint. Those elected to the elder board must meet some requirements for leadership. Our general guidelines are found in 1 Timothy 3. Those on the local board must be members of GracePoint, tithe to GracePoint and be in agreement with the guidelines on Christian living presented by the Wesleyan denomination. They must also demonstrate a servant heart and be in agreement with the direction and vision of the church. Some of our elders and deacons will be present at each of the meetings for you to meet.We have a multilayered vision at GracePoint and I will share details of this at the conference. We are told in the Bible that people perish where there is no vision and the same could be said of the local church.
There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the Anoint meetings.
Serving with you,
Pastor Steve
